Moon Rug
All The Fruits designed a rug for Node, a fair trade and non-profit organisation. Their aim is to connect a worldwide network of designers and artists with traditional Nepalese carpet makers to create beautiful handmade rugs.
Moon is hand knotted by Kumbeshwar, an organisation of rug makers based in Kathmandu. The carpet is entirely produced by hand using age old and natural Tibetan carpet making techniques. It is made from bales of pure Tibetan wool. It is hand spun into thread, hand dyed with natural and non-polluting dyes, and then hand-knotted on our looms into carpet.
It comes complete with a wooden dowel sewn in which allows them to be hung on a wall. This can easily be slid out if the rug is to be used as a floor covering.
Measurements: 1.75m x 1.15 m
We are proud to say that Kumbeshwar are a founder member of Fair Trade Nepal. Employees are taught literacy and skills. In addition to fair wages their work supports a school of 260 children and an orphanage of nineteen.
